First…
*throws confetti* *sounds the trumpets*
The Author’s Attic is celebrating its one year anniversary. (how can that be?! :O)
*hands out celebratory muffins* Because you know when there’s celebration with Rolena there’s muffins involved. 🙂 I’m so grateful to all you friends who’ve stuck it out with me for the year, or joined me part way through. A lot has happened since one year ago. And y’all have been a big part of my year. So… know that you’re amazing and appreciated.
And so much is happening now…
Like NANOWRIMO!
Which is why I’ll keep this post brief. (cause you know, I have to get back to my 1,667 words for today and I want you to go do the word thing for the day too.)
So some quick encouragement for your first NaNoWriMo day. (and you know, if you’re not doing NaNoWriMo, this encouragement is for you too.) And I’m really just talking to myself in the words below. 🙂
Breathe. Seriously take a deep breath. You have life. And a purpose. Whether it’s NaNoWriMo or just life, the Lord is where we can find true rest.
“Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.” Ps. 116:7
Don’t panic. You may not feel prepared enough. Adequate to write the story or take another step forward. But God is there leading the way if you’ll just look to Him.
“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Ps. 34:4
Be brave. NaNoWriMo (and life for that matter) can get overwhelming pretty quick. We can get lost in the sludge of unaccounted for word counts and unmet goals. But these don’t define us. God is going to accomplish in this month exactly what He wants us too.
“Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from Him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.” Ps. 62:1-2
Don’t forget to pray.
“O God, Thou art my God; early will I seek Thee: my soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh longeth for Thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.” Ps. 63:1
That’s all for today friends! Haha! I’ll probably be coming back here to remind myself of these things as I press on through this NaNoWriMo. 😀 May your NaNoWriMo journey be beautiful and a challenge to press nearer to the Lord this year!
So are you doing NaNoWriMo?! What’s the best advice you’ve been given in prep for NaNoWriMo?
Yay! Happy blogiversary! 🎉🎉🎉 I’ve enjoyed reading your posts and I look forward to all the wonderful posts you’ll write here in the future—and thanks for the muffins (though I’d rather have paper flavored ice cream 😜).
